The Akrapovic (pronounced "Ack-rap'-o-vich") company was founded in Slovenia in 1990, based on the experience gained in the field of motorcycle tuning by Igor Akrapovic. His knowledge comes from his own personal experiences and observations, as he himself often tested the results of his work as a motorcycle racer on the track.

In the search for perfection in tuning racing motorcycles, he was confronted with an insurmountable problem. There simply were no high-quality exhaust systems available to the public which could meet extreme technical demands. The systems which were available were for the most part poorly made, with the main parts usually welded together, and usually with excessively thick pipe walls. It was considered a success if the system at least came close to fitting onto the bike for which it was intended. Technically superior exhaust systems were astronomically expensive and difficult for the average customer to obtain. For Akrapovic, whose perfectionism is well-known, there was no choice. He had to go into the field of manufacturing exhaust systems himself.

Following many victories at the highest levels of motorcycle racing, the company expanded its operations to manufacture performance exhausts for sports cars. By applying the same attention to detail and technical know-how they have created some of the best exhaust systems in the world, they are so good that in 2004 they even equipped an F1 team.

1. Only the best materials are used
Three basic materials are used for creating exhaust systems: high grade titanium, stainless steel, and pre impregnated ultra light carbon fiber with high tensile strength and temperature resistance. The titanium compound is a unique formula, It is much stronger and durable than regular titanium.

Hydro forming is a process of forming header tubes using machines that mould metal with pressurized water. The material also does not lose its strength in the process and it provides a perfect shape to aid the flow of exhaust gasses

We use hydro formed conical header tubes for optimal exhaust gas flow. Because inner sleeves, flanges, and header tubes are independent, using floating couplings connected with just a couple of springs, the assembly is quick, while reduced vibrations also puts less stress on the material.
